Calling all Prospect Place/Court and Sunrise Avenuers!

This is an attempt to connect with people from long, long, ago. Perhaps the connection will last one simple paragraph, never to be heard from again, or reignite to last a lifetime. Who knows. I just think it would be fun to catch up with people that share so many fond memories from childhood and beyond. Some of us already do still keep in touch. While some might be content to keep the past in the past. Either way. Lets see what happens.

The Rats used to play at My Fathers Place. So did Zebra. Pepe and the Rats are still playing the Island, and whatshisface from Zebra is still out there playing also. Saw them both at George's place, the Roadhouse...

The place in Merrick was either the Right Track Inn or the Yankee Peddler

We saw Broken Arrow three or thirty times at ARROWS in Bellmore. We would sometimes get in and sometimes not. They played two songs really well- Everybody Loves You Now by Billy Joal, and On Our Way Home by the Beatles. Steve F and Jerry O were there with me and Steve F, and so was Steve O- one time, and maybe Peter too?. I can see it now ...right now in my mind and you are all there with me! Good times!

Joe I was thinking about writing a new book called- Tales of The Yankee Peddler. What do yo think about the title?

Yeah, Joe, after leaving that last post, I did remeber it was the Yankee Peddler in Merrick. For some reason, I don't remember going to the Right Track.

I also remember spending Christmas Eve 1984 at Brokerage drinking with my brother.

Arrows: was that the one right off of Mill Pond where we used to play darts?

Dennis, actually Broken Arrow's big cover tune was "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith.

Still can't remeber the name of bar in Baldwin.

Don't know a Branding Iron, but Aspens - there was one - don't remember where.

Hello lads, here's the scoop:

The Branding Iron was on Wantaugh avenue between Merrick Road and Sunrise Hwy.

Aspens was next to Mill Pond in the shopping center, it changed hands a few times, I played there about 7 years ago and it was named after some dog, no kidding.

Jack Russell's!!!! Thats it...

Arrows was on the corner of Oak Street and Bedford avenue. I used to play there with the Hugh Carrol band. I actually got to play with Taylor Dayne there when my buddy Tommy Byrnes (now with Billy Joel for the past 16 years). We played bad Company tunes and she was great. But Her backup singer who was there was MUCH better. You might know her as Crystal, Billy Joel's current backup singer.

The Stray Cats played at Arrows a few times back in the good old days. It changed to "The Diamond Club" in the late 80's. Then Sammy the owner was arrested for having Joker Poker machines in the back, and probably the biggest cocaine distribution network in Nassau County. Sammy owns a club in Vegas now...

"Can't find my way home" by Blind Faith... great rock star story at Cannos Swiss Tavern... But I can't print it, I made a promiss... Speaking of Canno, he got a radio show on Sirius satellite radio and wants me to be a frequent guest. We'll see how that works out...

Tales of the Yankee Peddler? You could write that, but I still see Dave Kuvall every now and then, he owns a liquor store in Long Beach near DJ Riders where I play. He will definitely sue you. Plus, some of the shenanigans that went on on that place would get us divorced even now...

Some things are best left in the past...

OK any other history of Bars in that area, just ask, back in the good old days I could actually hang out... Now I have 4 beers and I need to sleep for a week...

I had not a single shenanigan at The Peddler ever. NOt even one. I did have a few terrifying scares there though, at least two life or death moments as I recall. I was never really lucky with shenanigans at bars. Id get drunk to fast and become a liability to the attainment of shenanigans for all. In college, I was much better on the dance floor, and that really was my secret to Shenanigans later on in life, after Peddler had past; yes, it was me on the dance floor on the second floor of Toody Muldunes that led to shenanigans. Ive got to move it move it, yourve got to move it, move it.

Dont worry, no stories about The Peddlar; maybe if I write a crime drama I'll use it as a background for where the final showdown would be, thats all.
